The Company

Costmine Intelligence is the mine assets, costs and valuation research business of Glacier Media. Costmine produces an array of proprietary data, models and analytical tools for all stakeholders in the mining industry. Mining industry professionals use our products to screen and filter global mine properties, estimate mine costs and use our databases to benchmark detailed mine cost elements. We are based in Spokane, Vancouver and Toronto.

Costmine Intelligence is working on several exciting new data, research and modelling initiatives that will grow our business, and we are looking for research analysts to join our experienced team.

Role: Mining Engineer

We are recruiting an engineer with experience in mining and industry analysis to join our team of subject matter experts. A mining engineering background is required, and we encourage candidates with strong experience in data and analysis to apply. Experience with underground mining in particular is an asset. This is an exciting role that will offer exposure to all facets of our asset intelligence, mine cost estimating, data and research business and while taking a leading role adding value to our proprietary data.

Main responsibilities:

The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include the following:

Mine cost modeling

  • Constant improvement of mine cost models
  • Understand and be able to explain the underlying model principles
  • Real-world project estimating and analysis
  • Updating and improving published cost modelsContent development
  • Insightful monthly delivery of Sherpa outputs, scenarios and features
  • Short and medium length Insights
  • Event driven and original themes

Commercial

  • Work with existing clients with their queries and perform tutorials
  • Support new business development of new clients
  • Solicit feedback on potential model improvements

Minimum Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience in a mining or geology field, including industry analysis
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical mining field
  • Entrepreneurial mind set and a self-starter attitude
  • Willingness to try new approaches in an unstructured environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills
  • Excellent data skills and attention to detail
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills
